Celebrity Cruises is a premium line known for contemporary design, strong culinary programs and a genuinely elevated suite experience. It sits a step above the mainstream, appealing to travelers who want polish and space without the price of an ultra-luxury fare.

Founded in 1988 and part of Royal Caribbean Group, Celebrity operates roughly fifteen ships. The headline vessels are the Edge series, Celebrity Edge, Apex, Beyond, Ascent and the new Xcel, whose cantilevered Magic Carpet and outward-facing design reshaped the modern cruise ship.

Woven through the fleet is The Retreat, a suites-only enclave with its own restaurant, lounge and sundeck, effectively a small luxury ship living inside a larger premium one.

The Edge series, and a suite world apart

The Edge-class ships turned convention on its head. The Infinite Veranda staterooms open the wall of the cabin to the sea, and the Magic Carpet, a movable platform that rides the side of the hull, becomes a different venue at different decks. Xcel, which debuted in late 2025, is the newest of the five.

For guests who want more, The Retreat gathers the top suites into a private world with a dedicated restaurant, Luminae, a members-only lounge and a sundeck. It is one of the strongest suite products in premium cruising.

Dining as a headline, not an afterthought

Food is central to the Celebrity experience. The main dining is built around four complimentary restaurants on the Edge ships, each with its own menu and character, and specialty venues range from steakhouse and French to a rooftop garden and a raw bar.

The atmosphere carries a resort feel, with the pool deck, rooftop garden and bars like the Sunset Bar and the Martini Bar setting an easy, sociable tone from afternoon into the evening.
