Premium Cruise Line

Celebrity Cruises

Modern, design-led ships with serious dining and a private, suites-only world within.

The line

Modern premium, thoughtfully designed

Celebrity Cruises is a premium line known for contemporary design, strong culinary programs and a genuinely elevated suite experience. It sits a step above the mainstream, appealing to travelers who want polish and space without the price of an ultra-luxury fare.

Founded in 1988 and part of Royal Caribbean Group, Celebrity operates roughly fifteen ships. The headline vessels are the Edge series, Celebrity Edge, Apex, Beyond, Ascent and the new Xcel, whose cantilevered Magic Carpet and outward-facing design reshaped the modern cruise ship.

Woven through the fleet is The Retreat, a suites-only enclave with its own restaurant, lounge and sundeck, effectively a small luxury ship living inside a larger premium one.

In a word

Celebrity blurs the line between premium and luxury, most of all inside The Retreat, where a suite buys you a private ship within the ship.

The Edge series, and a suite world apart

The Edge-class ships turned convention on its head. The Infinite Veranda staterooms open the wall of the cabin to the sea, and the Magic Carpet, a movable platform that rides the side of the hull, becomes a different venue at different decks. Xcel, which debuted in late 2025, is the newest of the five.

For guests who want more, The Retreat gathers the top suites into a private world with a dedicated restaurant, Luminae, a members-only lounge and a sundeck. It is one of the strongest suite products in premium cruising.

Dining as a headline, not an afterthought

Food is central to the Celebrity experience. The main dining is built around four complimentary restaurants on the Edge ships, each with its own menu and character, and specialty venues range from steakhouse and French to a rooftop garden and a raw bar.

The atmosphere carries a resort feel, with the pool deck, rooftop garden and bars like the Sunset Bar and the Martini Bar setting an easy, sociable tone from afternoon into the evening.

Worldwide, from the Med to the Galapagos

Celebrity sails a broad global map: the Caribbean and Alaska, the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, plus longer voyages across Asia, Australia and beyond. Summers in the Med and Greek Isles are a particular strength.

The line also runs a distinct Galapagos operation aboard the purpose-built Celebrity Flora, a small all-suite expedition ship for one hundred guests. We help you choose the right ship, class and season for the trip you want.

Because Celebrity Cruises spends real time on the Italian coast, it is easy to add a culinary tour of Italy ashore.

Frequently asked questions

Is Celebrity a luxury cruise line?

Celebrity is best described as a premium line rather than a true ultra-luxury one. It sits above the mainstream with elevated design, dining and service, and its suites-only Retreat comes close to a luxury experience, but its main-fleet fares and larger ships keep it firmly in the premium tier.

How many ships does Celebrity Cruises have?

Celebrity operates roughly fifteen ships across its Edge, Solstice and Millennium classes, plus the small Galapagos expedition ship Celebrity Flora. The Edge series now numbers five vessels: Edge, Apex, Beyond, Ascent and Xcel, which entered service in late 2025.

Is Celebrity owned by Royal Caribbean?

Yes. Celebrity Cruises is part of Royal Caribbean Group, which also owns Royal Caribbean International and Silversea. Celebrity operates as its own distinct premium brand within the group and was founded in 1988.

What is The Retreat on Celebrity?

The Retreat is Celebrity’s suites-only experience. Suite guests get access to a private restaurant called Luminae, an exclusive lounge and a dedicated sundeck, along with butler service and other perks. It functions like a small luxury ship set within the larger premium one.

What are the Edge-series ships?

The Edge series is Celebrity’s newest and most talked-about class, comprising Celebrity Edge, Apex, Beyond, Ascent and Xcel. Signature features include Infinite Veranda staterooms that open to the sea and the Magic Carpet, a cantilevered platform that moves up and down the side of the ship to serve as different venues.

Who is Celebrity Cruises for?

Celebrity appeals to adults and couples who want stylish ships, strong dining and attentive service without stepping up to an ultra-luxury fare. Families are welcome, but the tone skews toward a more mature crowd drawn to design, wine, food and destination-rich itineraries.

What is the dress code on Celebrity?

Most evenings are smart casual. Voyages also include a couple of Evening Chic nights, where guests dress up a step further, though a jacket and tie are not required. The overall feel is polished but relaxed.

Does Celebrity sail to the Galapagos?

Yes. Celebrity runs a dedicated Galapagos program aboard Celebrity Flora, a purpose-built all-suite expedition ship for one hundred guests. It offers naturalist-led Zodiac excursions and all-inclusive fares, separate from the main ocean fleet.

How much does a Celebrity cruise cost?

Fares vary widely by ship, stateroom or suite category, season and itinerary, and Retreat suites carry a very different price to an inside cabin. Rather than quote a misleading range, we price your specific voyage and secure the best available CDV value. Request a complimentary quote and we will lay out the real numbers.
