World cruise FAQs

What is a world cruise?

A world cruise is a single long voyage that typically circumnavigates the globe, calling in numerous countries across multiple continents. Most run from about 90 to 180 days, though some are shorter or longer, with itineraries spanning regions such as Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa and the Americas.

How much does a world cruise for 2027, 2028 or 2029 cost?

Fares vary widely by cruise line, ship, suite category and length, ranging from roughly $20,000 to well over $200,000 per person. Fares generally include accommodation, meals, onboard activities and entertainment; luxury lines often add beverages, gratuities, shore excursions and sometimes airfare. We will quote current 2027-2029 pricing for any sailing you are considering.

Can I book just part of a world cruise?

Yes. Most world cruises can be booked as shorter "segments" or "sectors" that cover a specific stretch of the route rather than the full circumnavigation, which is a great way to experience a world voyage on a shorter timeframe and a smaller budget.

What is included in a world cruise?

At a minimum, accommodation, dining, onboard entertainment and access to the ship’s amenities and activities. Specifics vary by line and package. Luxury lines may include beverages, gratuities, shore excursions and even airfare, while services such as spa treatments, specialty dining or premium excursions are usually extra.

Can I stay in touch with family and friends onboard?

Yes. Most ships offer internet packages, either included in the fare or for a fee, though speed and reliability vary by line and by where the ship is sailing. Many lines also provide onboard phone service.

What documents do I need for a world cruise?

At minimum a valid passport, which should be valid for at least six months beyond your return date. Depending on the countries visited you may also need visas. Cruise lines often help with the necessary visas, but ensuring you have the correct documentation is ultimately the traveler’s responsibility.

What happens if I get sick during the voyage?

Every ship has medical facilities and staff onboard to handle common illnesses and minor injuries. For serious cases the ship may divert to the nearest port for advanced care. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers medical expenses and evacuation for peace of mind.

Is a world cruise suitable for families?

It can be, depending on the line and ship. Some ships offer kids’ clubs and family-friendly amenities, but the length of a world cruise and its adult-oriented pace mean many families choose a shorter segment instead. Tell us your situation and we will point you to the right fit.
